PMS - Infertility

Judith

In early December 2007 Judith, a per-existing client, came to see me regarding her difficulty falling pregnant.

We took a full case history and learnt that Judith, since coming off the pill, was experiencing terrible PMS which was characterised by 'psychotic behaviour' (her words, not mine!!!), sore breasts and severe lower abdominal pain at ovulation and when her period would come.

The case history also revealed Judith had heavy menstrual bleeding, dark clotted blood, restless sleep and problems with her bowels (alternating constipation and diarrhoea).  She would get nauseas with her period and would urinate several times each night (and felt like she was urinating more than she was drinking).

She enjoyed her work, but it was stressful and her husband travelled a lot for his work.

I explained to Judith that how a woman's period expresses itself (pain, clots etc) represents what is happening inside her body.

We developed a treatment plan that saw her take different herbs at different times in her cycle, we used acupuncture to support that and the goal was to have her conceive a baby while noting improvements with her PMS and period pain.

After a couple of cycles Judith noticed she was getting less pain at ovulation time and when her period came her menstrual blood stopped flowed more freely with fewer, much smaller, clots.  As well, her period became much less painful and she was much more 'stable' when her period came.

In addition, Judith's sleep improved dramatically and her bowels improved too as the irritable bowel-like symptoms ceased.

In early 2008, after about three month's of treatment, Judith returned a positive pregnancy test and delivered her beautiful daughter, Jenny, later that year.
