Menopause

Melanie

Melanie was a highly successful and very motived woman who came to see me in September, 2007 at the age of 47 with chronic, arthritic-like ankle ankle and finger pain.  She also experienced chronic sinusitis.

We treated all these conditions, very successfully and then Melanie discussed with me that she was starting to experience hot flushes associated with menopause.  She noted the hot flushes were worse when she was stressed or anxious at work.

We discussed that menopause is a normal process that all women go through.  It is not a 'disease' and the symptoms many women experience (most commonly hot flushes, teariness, forgetfulness) often respond well to Chinese medicine and acupuncture.

Melanie started taking a herbal formula to address her menopausal syndrome and we incorporated the menopause into her on-going acupuncture treatments.

Within a week of her first lot of herbs, Melanie noticed she was having fewer hot flushes and that those she was having were much less intense than previously.

After one month of treatment, Melanie reported she had gone for a whole week without any hot flushes.  Since then, Melanie has the occasional sensation of feeling warm, but has never regressed back to how she was before treatment.

Melanie now has acupuncture on a monthly basis to help with her joint pain and just to keep her body nicely balanced.
